All the sister missionaries that came to the mission the same time I did are going home. Let me just tell you that this week was one of the loooooongest weeks of my life! Tuesday: Multizone all day. Wednesday: Leader Counsel and another meeting directly after with the mission president, the stake president of Roble Oeste and the assistents. (That took up the whole entire day btw). Thursday: I stayed in my area for an interchange with one of the assistents. It was like a test to see if I'm ready to train another dude to be Zone leader. Friday: I had to go the the other districts district meeting to give a... capacitation? (I honestly don't know if that's a word guuuulp). Saturday: The first day of the week that we could actually work. BUT.. NOOOOOoooonee was home! haha I'M SERIOUS! we knocked doors all day but we got pretty tan so thats cool. Sunday: Church, ward counsel and a meeting with the stake president again, weekly planning, studying and 2 hours to work. Now it's finally p day and I am gonna relax sooooo good you don't even know. A sister is gonna make Mexican tacos for the district and were gonna chill on the terrace of a rich members house with a dooope view of the temple. I'll take some vids to show you whats up. I love the talk in the Liahona of this month by Elder Uceda, The area president of Central America, from Peru (he's coming to our stake this week) He talked about prayer and how we should pray. we should always kneel if we can when we are praying to show respect and humility. Our Heavenly Father knows us perfectly and wants to help us, but he wants us to tell him how we feel, what our problems are, what were grateful for, what our goals are etc. He hears and answers our prayers if they actually come from our hearts. Thats why we should prepare ourselves before we pray by reading the scriptures or meditating about the blessings we've received. And we should always remember: "When we offer a fervent prayer we have the attention of the most powerful, merciful and loving being in the universe" Love you guys!

Another good week creeds, some craaaaaazy stuff happened! Remember that evil turkey I was talkin about? Apparently some drunk dude fell over and sat on top of it and broke its legs and then it fell of the cliff. They went down and found it, it could barely move and couldn't stand up so they killed it. Now they want to feed it to us but I'd feel so bad eating that poor little guy!
The bishop's wife gave us one of the best meals I've had in the mish on Saturday! I'M SERIOUS! She gave us fish with rice, a salad and crepes too! The crepes had Nutella, strawberries, bananas and kiwis, sooooooo goood! Had another baptism this week. Janger 13 years. I got to baptize her. A little girl got baptized too in the same baptismal service and she wanted me to give a talk in her baptism so I ended up talking doing it in my baptism clothes haha. A good week. We've found a lot of new people to teach this week and we're hoping to schedule some more baptism dates for them too. Love you have a good week! And also have a good week! I'm back and I'm better! I actually was dying from the cough for life for about 2 months straight but I'm cured now. 3 members gave me cough syrup and 1 even took me to a farmacy because they all felt bad for me!
Anyways kids, we finally had a baptism here in Las Casitas! His name is Ismael, he's such a nice dude, really humble and always wanting to learn more. He was confirmed this Sunday and the next he will receive the Aaronic priesthood! He's originally from a small town close to the border of Nicaragua called Baduancho and some day he's planning on going back. There's no church or missionaries there.... buuuut... We had a dope visit with him, the bishop was there too. We talked about how in the future when he learns more and receives the Melquesidec Priesthood he will be able to start a group way out there. We'd just give him the supplies he needs to do it. The books, the stuff for the sacrement, etc. One of the elders (Elder Dansie) in our district received a package from his fam and one of the things in it was a game called Bean Boozled. I bet you've played it before, It's by Jelly Belly brand. There are good jelly beans but there are also nasty ones that are identical to the good ones so you can't tell what your gonna get. We played it and I ended up eating barf, dead fish, toothpaste and stinky socks. Pretty fun. My comp ate 5 beans and all of them were the nasties! I was reading In 1 Nefi this week and I ended up reading the story about Nefi when he goes hunting to find food for his family but breaks his bow. I was really thinking and meditating about that story. He was obedient and always wanted to follow the will of the Lord but even when he was keeping the commandments he broke his bow and wasn't able to feed his family that day. I've been reading the BOM study manual and there's some great stuff in there. It talks about the trials we receive in this life. We receive trials when we are disobedient and break the commandments, but we also receive them when we are being righteous. Sometimes that can be really hard on us thinking why would God do this to me If I'm keeping his commandments? We have to remember that God loves us and wants the best for us. If we are keeping the commandments and he gives us a trial it means that we are ready for it. We are strong enough to overcome it. We are here to progress and to learn from our experiences, the good ones and the bad ones. If we never received trials we wouldn't be able to do that. we would just stay in the same place. Sometimes in order to progress we have to feel pain and suffer a bit. It's part of the plan of happiness. God doesn't give us temptations or trials to big to handle. I know that if we trust in the Lord and keep his commandments we will be able to learn and progress as much as God wants us to. Well kids another nice week here in that one place. One thing I like quite a bit about this area is that we never get bored of where to eat. There are soooo many new restaurantes and places to try out. This week we hit up a new place called Nicha's Burger. It was reeaaally good buuuuut you know me, sometimes I make the mistake of eating to much so It gave me a death stomach ache after. It reminded me of when I used to drink waaaayyy to much chocalate milk and then I'd have to lay down afterward to recover haha.
We had a pretty crazy battle this week with an evil turkey. This is what happened. Gulp...Ismael (One of our investigators) lives in his dope little house on the top of a mountain. Buuuut he has a turkey guardian. It looks so scary and it has 3 concubines that follow him wherever he goes. One day we were heading up to his house (it's a little sketchy getting to the top) and we saw the turkey waiting for us. My comp went first and tried running to get away but the turkey chased him. My comp picked up a stick and then threw me one. Then it came towards me and backed me up to the edge of a cliff and started puffing its feathers and makin some creepy sounds. I was battling it a bit with my stick until I finally had to jump over it and start running until it stopped chasing us. We are doing good working hard we should baptize Ismael this Saturday and a girl named janger the next. I'm glad I'll be staying here with Merrifield another change to see the blessings of our work together. My homie, Elder Santay. Hey guys how we doin? All chill down here in that one place! Had a pretty good week, tiring, but good. I had to say bye to Elder Valadez my trainer and to another one of my comps, Elder Santay. It's crazy to see them leave so soon! We did an interchange on Tuesday. I stayed in my area and Elder Paredes (Guatemala) came with me. I had already met him when we were in Comayaguela so we passed it chill. When it was time to go back to his area the next morning we weren't really sure where to go, but we went to wait for a bus anyway. A bus came by and we asked the driver if he was gonna pass by Pedregal (the area of Paredes) and he said yeah so we hopped on in....We were traveling for a while and I felt like somethin was off but I just went with it. The bus finally stopped and the dude was like "alright your here. Pedregal you can get off now." So we got off..... guulp.... We got off the bus and started lookin around and we didn't recognize anything. It was a tad sketchy there too with thugs all around. Some dude was like hey be careful. It's pretty dangerous here. So we went and asked a guy where we were and he was like "Honduras"... Bruuuuu we know that maaaaan so we asked another dude in a barber shop and he said the same thing! We ended up asking one more person and she said "We're in Residencial Honduras" ooooooo so I guess that's what that town was called. We asked around some more about how to get to Pedregal and finally got on another bus. We were soooooo far away! I guess we had been in mission Teguc but like reeeallly deep in about 30 minutes from Pedre! It took us like 20 minutes to get back to our mish and then 10 more to Pedregal. But it was a pretty dope tour of Tegucigalpa if you asked me. We got a lot of work done this week. We got home super tired every day but it was worth it cause we're lookin good for the end of Enero and for Febrero too with some tisms scheduled. We have been teaching this dude (63 years old) named Ismael he's such a chill guy and lives in a pretty cool house on the top of a hill. It's not nice but It just looks pretty cool if you asked me. I'll have to take a pic for you guys. He's progressing fast! He's already read a ton in the bom and he's gone to church 2 weeks in a row! We also have a girl named Janger that moved from Tela this week and is living with her aunt and uncle. They are returned missionaries so we good. She's gone to church twice now and we've been teaching her too. We've got some more homies too that we've been teaching so I'm feeling good. Aight kids theres the week for ya, workin like doooogs man. Love you have a good week! We helped a family move this week. These are their kids. Another year down my friends. It went really well. I'm pretty happy to be able to say that I spent all of 2018 serving the Lord and the people of Honduras. My testimony has grown so much and I have been able to develop a bigger love for this country and for this gospel. I have really learned to trust in the Lord in everything I do and to follow the spirit. Anyway aqui estamos 2019. I'm ready, I have a lot of plans and I've set many goals that I'm looking forward to accomplishing this year. This week was great and we started it off good on Monday with a nice breakfast trip to Denny's as a zone. We weren't able to play bball that day because of the time, but we got to go to this dope grocery store called Diprova. They have a ton of original stuff from Mexico and the states. I bought some coke from Colombia (soda not that one thing) and some habanero hot sauce from Mexico. We discovered a new little village in our area. To get there we had to walk about 40 minutes straight just to get to the member's house that lives around there. Then we took a 15 minute bus ride to get to the little village. It was a super chill place in the mountains with a ton of oak and pine trees. I saw a house on top of the hill with a hammock outside and it was golden hour so it looked super nice. Buuuut I didnt have my camara with me to take the pic oh well. We had a good amount of investigators that came to church this week and we have had a lot of investigators progressing lately. Yesterday we did an interchange with Jardines de Toncontin. I went over there with Elder Chinchilla from Costa Rica. He's a really cool guy. He has 7 months in the mish. He wants to study in the states after the mish in BYU. He said that where he lives is super popular for tourism and that there are always gringos showing up at his branch for church on Sundays haha. To celebrate that Elder Valadez is going home, we went to a sushi place called Sushi 2 Go. Reeeaaally good sushi We ordered something called Barco 6 and they literally brought us a boat filled with sushi for us to eat It was a tad expensive, but definitely worth it. I'm doing good. We are working hard and being obedient. We receive many blessings in the zone lately for that. Elder Sullivan Elder Chinchilla Our church. The temple.
I haven't been in a house or bathroom this nice for ages. It was kind of weird!! Good week, pretty relaxed for the holidays. We had some pretty good meals. We got to eat dinner with the temple president one night and with the gringo oldy missionaries. We ate turkey with stuffing yams, etc. It felt pretty creepy though because there were only gringos and they were only speaking in English. It was like a vision of me in the future eating over at my grandparents house. Pretty much no one was home this week because they all went crazy on Christmas and all have hangovers and it's gonna happen again today so the work has been a little dificult lately. We're still in there workin hard and we have found a few good investigators to work with and we hope that they can progress. Dang no more 3 hour church! That's super weird. I can imagine my kids in the future saying dad I don't wanna go to church today its sooo loong. I'm gonna say... HHHAAAAA FUUUNNY I used to go to church for 3 hours every single Sunday! Na, I'm kidding but honestly there isn't more to tell you guys but happy new year!!! The dope food truck we hit up this week. Well well well how's it goin these days? Everything's chill down here in that one place. It's pretty hot but what can you do ya feel. This p day was dope. We went to some place called Trokos. It's like a food truck place but it's got a chill vibe if you know what I'm sayin. They sell Mexican food there and it's reeaaally good. I got a torta. It's basically a hot sandwich with meat in it. They put guacamole in mine, super good. We've been taking advantage of the restaurants near us these days. Eating out a lot haha. Before the district meeting on Tuesday we hit up Denny's. I honestly like the Denny's here better than the one in the states. My comp and I had to go to a Consejo de líderes this week. It's like a multizone but with just the zone leaders from each zone, the president and the asistents. We learned a lot of good stuff there. They taught us about what leaders do and how we can become better leaders not just in the mission but after too. On the way home from the leader counsel we saw a massive group of people on the side of the road. There was an ambulance too. There was a lot of traffic so we were going pretty slow. I had a window seat so I was able to see what was up. As we were passing I saw a dude sitting on the sidewalk with the paramedics with his shirt all ripped and blood and scrapes all over. Then... I saw a crashed moto and next to it, a blue tarp. There was a hand sticking out and then a 5 ft trail of bright red blood! It was super nasty, that's actually the first time I saw a dead person in real life. Gulp. I did an interchange this week with Elder Dansie who's being trained by Elder Valadez, my trainer. It was pretty fun. I got into a bible bash with some girl in his area which doesn't usually happen in Honduras, but we won the bash and left her with that one book. The BOM. Well, I hope you guys enjoy your Christmas. I have some scriptures for you to read that are focused on our Savior and what he did for us. Lets take advantage of this Christmas season by remembering Jesus Christ, his birth, example and sacrifice that he did for every one of us. Love you guys. 2 Nefi 25: 26, y 29 2 Nefi 26: 24, 27, 28 Christmas Eve
One of our cool investigators from my last area, Ciudad Espana. We took him to stake conference. Suuuuuuper cool guys! The tall one is the professional soccer player for the Olimpia and the other one is the one that gave me the Ronaldo jersey. We always played bball with them. Super cool guys. A cool family from Ciudad Espana. She did our laundry for us. Cool family! Super poor couple, but awesome! The guy gave me a tie and said they are sending me a Christmas gift. One of our investigators that we baptized, Eldubin Moreno. Another cool fam from my old area. The guy I'm next to is really dope. He gave me a sweater before I left. My old homies, Bowen and Briggs!! My older trainer Valadez is in my zone. Ha, ha. It's weird being his zone leader and he's my district leader. He goes home in 3 weeks. . Changes Zone : Roble Oeste (Really rich and some parts remind me of St. George and California) Area : Las Casitas Comp : Elder Merrifield (From Alpine, Utah) Assignation : Zone Leader Well I had to say bye to the little guys in Ciudad Espana. It was actually pretty sad because in just one change I had a good relation with some of the members there. My new comp is really cool. He actually has less time in the mission than me (1 change less) but he's a really good missionary and has experience as a ZL. We both have pretty good Spanish so we just talk to each other in Spanish all the time. This week was pretty stressful if you asked me. We weren't able to work that much because of the meetings and activities that we had. We already had to give a presentation to all of the Missionaries that are gonna be training new ones. We talked about the 12 Semanas book and how to use it. Also we had to do a practice of how to have a good companionship study in front of all the trainers and new missionaries. I'm getting used to giving presentations now though because I've done it so much in the mish. We had a Christmas activity with half of the mission on Friday. We went to the biggest church in all of the mish. It has a soccer court, volleyball court, and an indoor basketball full court! We got to play sports for the first 3 hours. I spent my time playing basketball. We ended up doing a tournament. We could only play half court though but my team won. After that they gave out awards to the winning teams in each sport. They gave me a Snickers. Then we had some more activities. We all gathered in the gym and there were some relay races scripture memorizing, etc. Then we played horse! The bball game. They call it Burro or donkey in Honduras. They had 1 missionary from each zone play. I played against some gringos haha. I ended up winning that too. I did a sweet 360 reverse layup and everyone went craaaaazy. I hit some really deep threes too. So they gave me 4 chocolate bars for that. We ate some lunch and then did a nativity play, Each zone had a part in it. I like my new area. It has a little bit of everything--suuuuuuuper nice parts and reeeaaaaally poor parts too. We go to the church that's right next to the temple. It's super pretty. We have some good investigators that we're working with and this week we should have a tism. Everything's goin good. I'm still getting used to being a zl but my comp's helpin me out with that. Love you creeds have a good week! Dope guy from Saan Pedro Sula Honduras. He was my zone leader in Bulevar. His dad is from Puerto Rico. I'm going to try and hit up Puerto Rico with him after the mish. Elder Santay. He's going home this change. I'm really sad about that. I found these glasses when I did an interchange in Villeda Morales. Our new house. Christmas tree from my fam. My new comp, Elder Merrifield. He's from Alpine, Utah.
Tajaditas con carne molida con aguacate y chile Well I'll have my pics tell the story of this week but I tell you a tad bit of what happened... Well this was my last week in Ciudad Espana because I'm outta here. I have to be at the stake center of Lempira at 8:00 am tomorrow with my bags to find out where I'm going and who's gonna be my comp. We finished the change good with a baptism on Saturday. Hermano Moreno, he's like 58 and had had problems with the word of wisdom all his life but we were able to help him out and he was able to get baptized and confirmed. I do have to say that it was reeeeeaaaaallly funny seeing him get baptised because he's a little scared of the water. His foot kept coming out of the water and my comp had to redo it like 5 times. Moreno even tried squatting down and laying face first in the water to baptize himself but his back stuck out of the water it was sooooo funny and it was hard not to laugh but he ended up getting tized so thats all that matters. It's satisfying to work hard and to see the fruits of your work at the very end. I know the Lord was testing us to see if we'd keep working hard. We did and we ended up with a baptism. These are the shoes that represent the gang 18 and if the cops catch someone wearing them they take them to jail. |
