Not much went down this week. We did find out some crazy stuff about one of our contacts. So it's a 15 year old girl, but she's covered in tats and has crazy blue and green hair and dresses really immodest. Aparently a member in our ward that we were talking to used to live by her. And she told us some crazy stuff. She's married to the boss of one of the gangs here in Honduras. But he's in jail right now. So that means that she has to take over. She is the BOSS of the gang now!! The girl has told stories to this member because they are still friends. Stories of when she has killed people. One day she entered into a house and killed the mom of two little kids and now they are on their own. When she doesn't have money she just goes to a store and robs it! The cops know everything but they are scared to put her in jail or else the gang will go for them! Man Honduras is literally ran by gangs. The cops can't do anything, but I'm glad that God protects us as missionaries because we pass by that girl almost every day and she carries a gun, but nothing has happened. Andrea didn't get baptized because she wants to travel to Roatan to tell her parents and get their permission first so now it's programmed for the 22nd of Sept. We will have 2 tisms this week and another the next! This week we were walking and saw a bunch of pure gang members playing basketball. There was music going really loud and the hoop wasn't normal. It was a rim with a net but no backboard. They just had it nailed to a branch of this massive tree but it was basically the height of a normal hoop. Anyway, as we were passing I realllly wanted to play because I have always dreamed of this moment to school the gang members on the court! Well, they let me play. The first pass I got I juked some dude out and did a Euro step and made it. Everyone was like dang this guy's good. Like 30 seconds passed. I got the ball again crossed 2 guys up, did a dirty spin move to juke the 3rd, and nailed the jumper swish. In that moment everyone freeeeeaaaked out. There was even a group of girls in this wooden house above screaming and cheering. All the bros gave me a bro hug of respect and then we bounced. Super dope moment. I hope to return one day hahaha. That's about all that happened if you asked me this week. Love you guys!

Pepino y limon con azucar. Super good juice!! At the talent show with our new Vans. Suuuuper dope week! We have some new dudes in the zone. One is from Guatemala beginning his mission and a sister from Dominican rep. in her training too and a new zl from Argentina . Oh also my dl from Colombia. It's gettin pretty diverse up in here. I had to recite Doctrine and Covenants 121. 34 - 36 in front of my zone. It was super hard to memorize it but I did it good i'd say. I bought some new Vans for cheap and they are real so i'll send some pics in of those. This week we threw down a lot of baptismal dates and now we have 8! Andrea didn't get baptized last week because her fam was out of town. BUT this Friday its a huned bru. We should officially be baptizing at least 1 person every week until the 15th of Sept. and we hope to baptize even more. I guess contacting does pay off. The president and his assistants just showed up at our house one morning cause you know that guy is craaazy strict. He came to see if we were awake and if the house was clean. We were already awake and dressed but the house was pretty nast if you asked me. So the assistants took photos and everything so that when they come back tomorrow they can see if we really cleaned it. Guuulp. On Saturday we had an activity at the church. It was super chill a good vibe if you asked me. All the members were vending food. I played some ball with the bishop and some other homies and after we did a talent show. Me and my comp sang with 2 other members. A song called Mira a Honduras by Polache. Then there was a karaoke and they let us do it. I sang a song called Hablo Espanol by Polache and everyone was like daaaang you are Honduran man!!! but yeah, I have some pics from that night. We were wearing Honduras jerseys that a family let us use and our new Vans! If you are someone that wants to become more of a leader read D and C 121 34-46 good stuff. Anyway we hope to get these tisms started. Love you guys have a great week! Elder Sullivan Just a photo of some rice. It's pretty common to eat this for lunch here.
Yes! I finally got some more Hanz! Heyyyyyyyy creeds. Great week if you asked me!!! It was definitely filled with some ups and and a tad bit of downs! Anyway, I had to say bye to Santay, my District leader, and old comp. He left to La Pena. We celebrated his B day that day too. I'm officially the only gringo in the zone. Swweeeeet! I love that because it helps me with my Spanish! This week we worked suuuuper hard. We work hard every week but this week we went ham. Contacting every day like crazy. We ended up finding a lot of people to teach and some of them even went to church this week. We put some baptism dates down with them too! We are going to continue working with those dudes and try to find even more this week. The goal of our mission president is to baptize every week. We are going to start doing that starting this Saturday I hooope. I almost fell out of a taxi this week haha. We were walking with the elders of Pradera and some bro in a taxi rolled up and said he would drive us for free. We were like aight sounds dope and everyone started getting in the car. I was halfway in and the guy started goin! And he accelerated fast. I was like bro chill but he didn't even hear me for like 5 seconds. He finally stopped and I could close the door and get in all the way haha. The drivers here are crazy! My comp and I were walking down a hill in our area and we saw 4 school girls in their uniforms walking in the opposite direction. We were going to pass them and then 2 of them jumped up in my face and said you are so cute seriously soooo hot and all of them started sayin that. I was so creeped that i just kept waking and didn't say anything. Then they started talking to my comp telling him to tell me what they said in case I didn't understand them. This week our area has become very dangerous. And really scary too. About 6 people have been murdered including a member of my old ward in Pradera. We knew his brother really good and he's preparing to go on a mish. It's really sad that his older brother died. The older bro served in Guatemala and had about a year being home. Apparently he was walking to work in the morning and they shot him. When the forensics and police showed up to see what happened they were searching his body for wounds and they couldn't find anything. They took off his shirt, nothing. But then they rolled his body over and he had a hole in his face below his eye and his whole fam was there and they were all crying. Suuper sad. I met the dad and I even did divisions with him and he always told me how proud he was of his son for serving. He has 10 kids by the way and the one that died was the first son to serve a mish. The older brother even came to our ward 2 days before he was killed so we were talking to him a bit. Really sad but I'm glad that I know he is resting and in an even better place now. We had a lesson with one of our new investigators and baptismal date. We arrived to teach him and he told us that 10 feet away from us by the river some gangsters killed a guy like an hour before we arrived. The area is getting sketch but the Lord is protecting us. Love, Elder Sullivan I got my hump day (halfway package). Thanks family. It was super dope!! Me and my comp at the church.
Changes tomorrow, but I'll be chillin here in Tiloarque with my same comp Elder Flores, but that's dope because we like each other and we've been working hard to get some baptisms this change. I've been teaching him a little English too because he all of a sudden wants to learn haha. But we're excited to keep flowing and sharing the gospel with these creeds. This week we ate at a member's house. They are Garifunas from the North coast of Honduras and the food there is a tad different if you asked me. So they served us a typical dish called Machuca! I was scared when I first saw it but I ate it all and it was pretty good. It's a whole fish with a soup and a huge ball of Platano Maduro (plantains). I finished eating everything and the lady came to take my plate and as she was walking out to throw the fish away one of the bros saw it and said whoa, whoa, whoa, stop right there. Are you serious man? (They talk in a thug accent but in Spanish). I'll show you how to eat that fish the right way and he put it on his plate and started goin ham. I thought I ate everything but I was mistaken after I saw just pure bones, not aaaaanny thing else left! There is a member that goes to church every Sunday in nasty clothes. He smells really bad and he's a little messed up now. But he's pretty fun to talk to because he says the most random stuff, haha. When people are giving lessons he walks to the front and just writes weird stuff on the board and everyone laughs. And when he sings the hymns he sings so loud and in opera. Pretty crazy stuff. It's kind of a sad story though because when he was 19 all chill. He was gonna go on a mish but he got into drugs. Someone gave him a drug and it messed up his brain pretty bad. Now he lives in a small wooden house and can't say things right. We are focusing on maintaining our converts activity and it's going well and trying to find more homies to teach. We're still teaching Andrea. She's going good, should be baptized on the 18th. Also, Damaris and Scarlet. But those two didn't go to church this week so we have to extend the date to the 18th. We hope to baptize three this month. Love you guys. Have a great week! Elder Sullivan |
