WEEK: 77
COMPANION: Sister Rimmer AREA: África 70, Espargos, Sal My last full week. UAU. it feels like a dream haha. This week was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING <3. I can't even express the gratitude I have for the time I've spent and the people I've met here in Sal! On p-day we headed to the other side of the island one last time to play beach volleyball, my team won hehe. We started a prank war with the elders and last week they turned off our power... so this week after we worked out together, we got them with buckets of water haha but when they thought that was all, we took the "pans of cinnamon rolls" and dumped flour all over them hahaha PRICELESS. We found so many AMAZING people to teach and Lori is on date to be baptized next month yay! Hopefully with her cousin Erica! Me and elder Bailey had our last district council, so of course everyone wore black haha. And Friday + Saturday Elder Teixeira from the 70 came to do a few devocionals! After the devotional on Saturday there was supposed to be a ball, but turns out that just means lots of food? Lol. ALSO! on Saturday we went to Kery's baptism and wow she is amazing! LOVE HER ! And yesterday.... IT POURED RAIN! of all my time here in Cabo Verde it has never rained more haha #milagre. I said a HARD goodbye to all of our friends and my favorite quad ever :*( We played some foursquare at the airport lol and me and elder Bailey hopped on a plane to Praia! Stay tuned :))

WEEK: 76
COMPANION: Sister Rimmer AREA: África 70, Espargos, Sal YAYAYA hello FRIENDS !! This. Week. Was. WILD !! We had the funnest time at the botanical garden last p-day and took some family fotos with our district lol. I did splits with Sister Willey! Fun fact: she's my granddaughter haha. LOVE HER! Hard day, but still lots of laughs. We had ZONE CONFERENCE! I was VERY STRESSED about my training on humility... but I think it went well :) #reinodeneve. Our best friend Stefany is coming back to church and gave us bananas! Saturday night the other sisters had a baptism and he wanted 3 CAKES HAHA! So while they made the cakes, Sister Rimmer and I headed to the church to fill up the font BY HAND because the chapel decided it didn't want to have water this weekend :)) But the baptism was AMAZING!! and afterwards, after a little convincing... president + sister Wunderli took us to see the turtles nesting AHHHH it was sooo coool !! We got to walk on the beach at night and see the turtles laying eggs in the sand! We met Jonathan from Wales hehe and sang Christmas songs on the bus ride <3 Seeing the turtles reminded me of a talk that I heard in stake conference a few months ago! Turtles will travel ALL OVER THE WORLD! But with the help of the celestial stars, they always find their way back to the same beach, HOME !! Just like how we're far from our Home, with heaven's help, we can all make it back safely. I'm soo grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I've seen it change SO MANY LIVES for the better including mine! No matter how hard it gets, we just gotta keep on swimming back to our Heavenly Home. Eu vos amo <3 HAVE AN AMAZING WEEK !! And don't forget to SMILE YAY! WEEK: 75
COMPANION: Sister Rimmer AREA: África 70, Espargos, Sal AAAHHHHH YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK !!!! P DAY we had THE FUNNEST Fourth of July BBQ with our zone! It was all the American foods, and I was SOO GOOD! Wow! I. LOVE. AMERICA. We also went to a beach, and there were some HUGE FISH IN THE WATER! We tried to touch them, but the people said not to. I always joke about "falling in" and swimming, but I literally FELL IN this week! Thankfully elder Ridge was there to save my life. Lol jk but obrigada! We had the best little branch activity and played soccer and they made cachupa, claro We hiked a hill by our house, ran a little bit, taught some amazing lessons! got pooped on by pigeons, bullied by moças, ate lots of protein, and laughed a lot, maybe a little too much hehe!! I also had to bear my testimony in our Tuesday devotional and AHHH I can't believe I'm going home. I'm just so grateful for everything my mission has taught me and for the AMAZING people I've met. Jesus Cristo vive! Alrighty, I think that's it! OH and I started a weekly newsletter for the Sal zone and I will not lie, it's pretty cute haha Okay have an AMAZING WEEKKKK! Até JÁ! .WEEK: 74
COMPANION: Sister Rimmer AREA: África 70, Espargos, Sal Wow. This week was kinda fun, but also one of the harder ones. On p-day we went resort hopping hehe. We went to the Hilton and the Riu and saw a few others. And we walked soo much haha! But I finally got to go to the PRETTIEST BEACH IN CABO VERDE! Wow, it was awesome!! I felt like such a tourist! We had a family night and basically the whole branch showed up!! and Bela made THE BEST couscous.! Me and Sister Rimmer are still going to the track every day and it's my FAVORITE THING EVER! The people there are so cute. We're besties now :) We ate at a superrr nice restaurant after a leadership meeting and there were literally only tourists there. I fell asleep writing in my journal Friday night after we FINALLY got Sal Burger and I started sleep talking and said "wait today's closed eyes day!" LOL I was right though! All through the night and the next few days we were SOO SICKKK !! It was almost as bad as when I first got to Cabo Verde so yeah that was ironic. But we're feeling better today! and this week is gonna be AWESOME!! See you in a quick few <3 WEEK: 73
***TRANSFERS OLD COMPANION: Sister Williams NEW COMPANION: Sister Rimmer OLD AREA: Chã d'Marinha, Mindelo, São Vicente NEW AREA: África 70, Espargos, SAL !! AHHHH I'M IN SALLLL !!! If you ask anyone here, they'll tell you that my dreams came true. I've been wanting to serve in Sal since I got to Cabo Verde, and I finally got my wish hehe. It was really sad leaving São Vicente, but I'm so grateful for the stories I've made and the people I've met there :*) And Sal is AMAZING! Sal has a huge reputation for being a hard island because everyone here just works all day every day at the resorts, but everyone moves here looking for a better life... and that's literally why we have THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST !!! how awesome is that?! Me and Sister Rimmer got to know our area a little bit, found some new people, ATE SOME REAL MEXICAN FOOD. yep. And got lost a few times. We have a track by our house and working out there in the mornings is MY FAVORITE THING EVER! We had a few people make fun of our accents and call us touristas, but it's just all part of the experience :) Our branch had a soccer activity and it was SOOO FUNNN! They take soccer a lot more seriously here than the other islands lol. And Sunday I gave a talk in church... and I was SWEATING SOO BAD, but I don't think you could tell... I hope lol But alrighty, I think that's it! I hit 17 months today so yeah WILDDD! love y'all tons <3 WEEK: 72
COMPANION: Sister Williams AREA: Chã d'Marinha, Mindelo, São Vicente Hey friends! I shook an apostle's hand, no biggy :) JUST KIDDING I WAS FREAKING OUT AND IT WAS SOO COOOOLLLL HAHAHA !!!! Anyway, this week was awesome!! We started out with soccer on p-day yay! Love my zone <3. Me and Sister Smithy went on splits on the windiest day there ever was and got locked on the roof haha. On Wednesday we got to go do service with the HEFY kids! It was actually kinda harder work than I thought, but it was SOO FUN! I found out it was my last week in Mindelo so we made the rounds to say bye to all of my favorite people. Man I love them so much. I'm just so grateful for every single person I've ever met here in Cabo Verde. GOD IS SO GOOD! On Friday night right before getting picked up to go to the airport, the zone leaders called us and said that they might cancel our flight!! But we prayed really hard....AND WE MADE IT TO PRAIA FOR THE ELDER ANDERSON DEVOTIONAL AND THE TEMPLE DEDICATION!! It was so cool!!! On Saturday Elder Anderson spoke to all of the missionaries and it was just really amazing. Then on Sunday, they dedicated the Cape Verde Temple! I had the coolest opportunity of being one of the translators and it was just WOW. Definitely an experience I will never forget. I was super nervous hehe. But being in the House of the Lord, with one of His apostles was just amazing! And it RAINED AFTER AHHHH MILAGRE!!! During the second session's dedicatory prayer I just felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the priesthood here on the Earth today. It has changed and blessed my life so much. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that this is His church. I'm so grateful for the men of the church and all of their service. I LOVE THIS GOSPEL !!!! AND I LOVE YOUUU!! I think that's all I've got for this week... but I hope you all have so much fun :)) I'm headed to play soccer again #lemfarreira5ever hehe but I'll talk to you all next week! Beijinhos <3 WEEK: 71
COMPANION: Sister Tyson AREA: "temple square" This week was MAGICAL !! I can't even explain it, just WOW. This week I had the chance to go to Praia and spend the week helping with the temple open house. YAYAYAA !! It was a week full of late night ice cream runs, sucapira, bargaining, borrowed clothes, watching a temple video 5793+ times, outfit of the day pics lol, more sucapira, even more bargaining, comfy beds, lunch dates, stealing all the blankets during the night (sorry Sis Tyson), Jedi braids, pufferfish pranks and so so so much more! The office elders also gave us one of their sim cards soo we had A LOT of people calling US looking for THEM haha. But the MOST MAGICAL PART of this whole week was reuniting with my besties from Praia!! When I was serving there in the winter, we baptized two best friends Edmilson + Elvis, and when we got to the temple on Monday, THEY WERE THE ONES DOING THE TOURS!!! So we had the chance to take the temple tour from them, and WOW. After over a year of not being inside the temple, and then being able to sit in the celestial room with my recent converts, it was an experience that I will never forget! I'm so excited to be able to go to the temple every week!! THE CHURCH IS SOO TRUE!!! Also, someone told me I look like sister Wunderli so yeah #felicidade. Saturday we rushed home on a plane for Ineida + Kiara and Alanis's baptisms :)) IT WAS SOO PRECIOUS!! I love them soo much! And Sunday I said bye to a lot of the people in the ward because I might be leaving aaaahhhh but we'll see... But okay yah let me know which dress I should wear to the temple dedication next week hehe . Lots of love, Sister Sullivan WEEK: 69
COMPANIONS: Sisters Williams AREA: Chã d'Marinha, Mindelo, São Vicente Hello friends, this week was AMAZING! On P DAY Suzano, our adopted tio, took us to the prettiest beach by this cute little fisherman's village and we held little turtles, and played spikeball, and won, and wow it was just soo fun! We lost power a few times :) Ideida + Kiara were bouncing out of their seats when we invited them to be baptized <3 I GOT ATTACKED BY A MONKEY! and Sis Williams literally got it on video hahaha DIVINE INTERVENTION. My two bestest friends Edmilson + Evis from Praia are working in the temple and I'm soo excited to see them in a couple weeks !! AND one of my bestest friends here Nilton just got called as the priest quorum adviser yayaya! I did a million+ things to renew my visa so I don't get deported. We went BACK to the beach on Saturday for our service project and we saw jellyfish! I collected WAY TO MANY SHELLS, and a little surprise hehe And yesterday we ate lunch with the patriarch! He has some pretty cool stories to tell. Other than that, I think that's all! Love you all SOO MUCHH!! I'm proud to be an American! And don't forget: Jesus te ama <3 WEEK: 68
COMPANIONS: Sisters Williams AREA: Chã d'Marinha, Mindelo, São Vicente Okay at this point Sister's Grayson and Tyson should just move in with us lol. THIS WEEK WAS SUPER DOPE! For pday we, headed to SANTO ANTÃO! It was... different than I expected haha. It was SO HOT! It gave me flashbacks of August in Fogo haha. We took a BUS to the cool side of the island and did a little hike. It wasn't as green as it could be, but anything is greener than chã d'marinha lol. Then on Tuesday, I went BACK TO SANTO ANTÃO for exchanges. Thankfully it wasn't as hot that time. We saw a MASSIVE FISH! like WOW. Idk why but it made me wanna travel the world even more !!! We almost missed the boat on the way back because we decided to carry our suitcases instead of taking a taxi to the port, but thankfully this nice dude gave us a lift. We found a cute family to teach, taught some English, and made "megabed" to watch president Nelson's devotional haha. But it was SOO GOOD! You all need to watch it if you haven't yet and tell me your favorite thing about it! I made everyone eat our Friday night hambergov, and it really showed at basketball the next day lol. And last but not least, MÍRCIA AND SUZY GOT BAPTIZED! Suzy is my most favorite friend from before our area split, and Mírcia is an ANGEL! The baptism may have started a little late... but hey tudo bem. Alrighty well, I think that's about it! I love you all more than you know! Lmk how your week was and I'll see you in a quick few :)) WEEK: 67
COMPANIONS: Sisters Williams + Grayson AREA: Chã d'Marinha, Mindelo, São Vicente Okay I'm like not in a trio, or a quad, but man it feels like I am haha. This week was SUPER DOPE ! It started off with the funniest family night. We brought our recent convert Nilton and wow I just love him. OH and last pday we went to the beach by the airport and it was LEGIT DEMAIS! I flew to Praia with Sister Grayson for a mission meeting and we left our children at home haha. I hate flying so I wasn't too excited, but I got to see some of the best people ever so... worth it!! Our district had a challenge to do 300 street contacts this week and we almost made it! Mírcia passed her baptismal interview and she's so excited for Saturday!! We also had stake conference, and it was AMAZING !! The Saturday night session was all about the role of women in the church, and afterwards, we got milkshakes with President and Sister Wunderli and some of the other missionaries. Elder Kopischke from the 70 promised that if the people here keep the commandments, then they'll get out of poverty. HOW COOL IS THAT?!! Afterward, the seventies had to do a bunch of priesthood stuff, so I got to be Sister Kopischke and Sister Teixeira's translator!! It was soo cool to talk to them and for them and wow it was just the coolest experience. Okay I think that's all! We're headed to another island for the day so if I don't respond just know that I still love you <3. Okay yeah I love you all! Also if you made it this far, parabéns because this one was a long one. AND DON'T FORGET !! UR AWESOME ;) |
