WEEK: 52***
COMPANION: Sister Smith AREA: Palmarejo Norte, Praia, Santiago Wow okay this week was AWESOME !! First off, MY BIRTHDAY was on Monday and EVERYONE new it loll Anddd... WE WENT TO TARRAFAL WITH THE PRAIA ZONES AHHHH !!! BACKSTORY: a little before Christmas I told President I wanted to go to Tarraral for my birthday to party with the two zones in Praia. Tarrafal is 2 hours away on the other side of the island, so he and everyone kind of just laughed it off saying it was impossible. Fast forward a month... and we went !!! We took up the mission party bus and 4 cars and my birthday dreams came true. We did an awesome hike and played games and had a picnic on the beach after. One of the best birthdays EVERRR on one of the prettiest beaches ever. Me and Sister Smith are officially WEAK! We're literally soo cold all the time so we decided to look at the temperature and it's like a solid 72 all the time... I will die in Cedar City when I get back :) Saturday was Sister Smith's birthday so we had a nice sisters lunch and then watched a baptism and got ice cream. We made cake and brownies and got to blow out our 20 candles. AAAHHH I'M 20 THAT'S INSANEEE !!! alsooo I HIT ONE YEAR THIS WEEK WHAT?!! It's soo weird to me that one day this is all gonna end, but until then, I am living it up! I love the people we're teaching, our ward, and all the missionaries here. I really do have the best mission in the world <3 Alsooo it's transfers next week so i could be writing from another island :) but honestly I hope not cause I LOVE IT HERE !!!! Be good this week and always remember: life is just a big football game :)

WEEK: 51
COMPANION: Sister Smith AREA: Palmarejo Norte, Praia, Santiago ***NOTICE, WARNING, ADVISO, ETC: TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY !!!!!! Okay so now that that's out of the way, I hope everyone is well! This week had many plot twists, but all is well. It started off with PAINTBALL on Monday! It was SO DOPE! but I also have SO MANY bruises. Next time I'll remember to bring the long sleeves and pants that I don't have lol. A new sister stayed with us so we did orientation with her and then drove around forever to get a covid test lol. Then, Sister Wunderli got deathly ill. Not like actually, but they decided to move zone conference to Wednesday instead of next week! It was SUPER DOPE! And the food was soo good this time! We went to a baby shower and it was pretty cute. The temple president's wife was there, haha. We got the baby socks... Anddd we had splits so I headed to Palmarejo 2 for the day!! Over all a solid week! OH and we had so say bye to the Teixeiras that are going to Brasil!! NOOOO they're literally so precious, but I told them they need to eat McDonald's when they get there lol Love you all and have an awesome week !! Note--apparently an elder wrote Brinley's email for her this week, so if it's kind of silly.....
Okay everyone, this week was super fun! So it all started on Sunday when there was a devotional for the YSA. Well, I guess the only YSA people are the missionaries because we were the only ones who came. And a couple other people, but I don't know who they were. Okay, so the next thing that happened is that there was a famine. So that was annoying. We almost died, but then we didn't. Because crops started growing again I guess. So that was kind of random, but whatever. Had I had a child at the time I would have sent them to purchase food and hopefully run into a long lost other child of mine who was sold into slavery, but I had no such luck. Yeah, I just made a Bible reference, I'm an expert now. Elder Aston has taught me everything there is to know. Speaking of Elder Aston, or really not of him but the office in general, we're still living above the office. According to legend, we were only supposed to be here a few days, but then stuff was weird and I guess we're still here. But it's okay, I like it better here. Its fun flexing on everyone in zoom calls being on the couch in the wifi filled room. We've been going HAM on the social media stuff. Social media defines me now. I've been running a TON of social media meetings, and they've actually been going well. The District Leaders are phenomenal, I want to BE a district leader someday. We also had our weekly meeting with Elder Aston. Because we live above the office we got to do it in person, even though he tried to do it over zoom. It was a really long meeting, but it all worked out. We created like ten goals for the next week. But overall, I'm still having a blast! Two of my three neighbors are awesome. I think we're pretty good neighbors to them too. They haven't expressed any hatred, although, as one of them once said: "Hate is stronger than love". This week was the Baptisms of Nelson and Ekon!!!! I LOVE THEM!!! Literally one of the bestest days in the whole mish. And I spoke in church on Sunday for the first time since my farewell. I was very nervous and dripping sweat, but I think it went well. Thank you for reading my weekly email this week! Can't wait to talk to you next week! Bye! P.S. Sister Smith is suffering from something called I think "Instant Syndrome" where she instantly will develop random fears. She is now scared of the color red, so please do not show her anything or send her any pictures that have even a hint of red in them. Anyway, bye!!!! WEEK: 49
COMPANION: Sister Smith AREA: Palmarejo Norte, Praia, Santiago This week was the week my dreams came true. STORY TIME: S about 7.5 months ago when I got here, we heard that the missionaries used to live in the apartment above the mission office, but as of then it was empty. So, I decided that one day I would live there. Everyone always told me it would never happen because only elders can live there. WELL, fast forward 7.5 months and... IM LIVING ABOVE THE MISSION OFFICE YAYYAYA hahhaha. Dreams really do come true. We had hype tour this week and it was AWESOME! We played Kahoot and I threw a bunch of candy. We're like kinda opening an area so we don't know too many people yet, BUT Nelson is on date for this Saturday and we started teaching his cousins and wow I just love them. Other than that there's not too much I can think of. We left a bunch of stuff in our old apartment so we've got a nice supply of Ketchup, mayo, rice, bread, and oatmeal, with like no money so we'll see how this week goes haha. LOVE YOU ALL HAVE AN AWESOME DAY AND AN EVEN AWESOMER WEEK !! WEEK: 48
OLD AREA: Achada Santo António, Praia, Santiago ***TRANSFERS NEW COMPANION: Sister Smith WAAHHOOOO NEW AREA: Palmarejo Norte, Praia, Santiago Hey friends! Its been another week! And an interesting one I'd say. Sister Arana left at 5 am Tuesday, so I stayed with the Palmarejo sisters and had a mini split until SISTER SMITH arrived that night. We all stayed in Achada with Sister Thompson until she left Friday, also at 5 am. Well... we got there at 5 am, but they delayed the plane till 9:30 soo we went back home, slept again, and THEN dropped her off. They don't have a house for us in our new area yet, soo we're in Achada until further notice haha. Honestly other than waking up wayyy too early, wayy too many times, not much happened this week. We went to our last week of church in Achada and everyone was pretty sad to be getting elders ngl lol. Said bye to our friends and walked around our new area. Everyone lives in apartment buildings and there's like no one outside so I'm a little scared, but all will be well! I saw this on Facebook and I liked it, so i thought I would share it! "When life starts feeling turbulent, it's probably time to slow down and go back to the basics: - go to bed earlier - meditate - exercise - decrease sugar & caffeine - quit multitasking - organize, plan, list - turn off the phone and get to work - talk it out with friends - wear comfortable clothes - get outside - say NO to good things to have time for important things" - hank smith So next time you get a little anxious of feel like life is getting out of hand, maybe choose a little thing to change and see how much of a difference it makes. LOVE YOU ALL!! HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BOAS ENTRADAS :) |
