IWEEK: 25
AREA: São Filipe, Fogo COMPANION: Sister Monteiro OI AMIGOS !! Espero que vocês estejam bem :) This week started off a little rough lol. We had an awesome family night Monday, but I was so sick, like dragon sick if you know what I'm saying. It was so awful. I thought it was going to die. But after a HOT shower (I splurged a lil) and a very long nap, I was feeling a lot better. Fun fact: we have to fill up the top of our toilet every time we want to use it :) District Council was amazing as usual! And our English class is poppin off!! We taught them how to talk to a "receptionist." They all bought tickets to go to America hahaha. FUNNY STORY: Cardoso and Jensen were transferred to Patim and they gave the keys to the other sister's house to a member, but didn't tell them. So the sisters walked home at night and realized they were locked out and they ended up sleeping the night here with us hahaha! It was super fun! Another funny story: bishop asked me what piss means. HAHAHA I asked him where he learned it and he said from a movie. It was very hard to explain in a good way. Other than that, we had a DOPE youth activity Saturday, a birthday party Saturday, and a luncheon on Sunday! Yeah I know. They're treating us gooooood lately. Other than that not much except I heard tea about the BRAND NEW HOUSE with EVERyTHING BRAND NEW that the church rented in one of our areas. I'm praying I get some of that lol. Anywayyy love you alll. Hope you are AMAZING! and don't forget.... enduring to the end isn't a life or death situation. It's an ETERNAL LIFE situation :))

WEEK: 24
AREA: São Filipe, Fogo COMPANION: Sister Monteiro Oi oi oiiii queridas!!!! Modi ki bu dia bai?! Anywayyyy if you didn't know... I'm still in Africa! This week we had transfers and me and Monteiro are both gonna stay here in Fogo and chill for a few more bits. For p-day last week we ate pizza with Bruno and he served his mission for 3 YEARS because of Covid! yeah. Also the pizza was very very good. AND we found Mountain Dew!!! Twas a very good day full of American things. We had our first English class and it was a HIT. We had like 17ish people!! We tried to make brownies, but they didn't turn out very good lol. They don't have vanilla extract here, only vanilla flavoring. Also, our oven couldn't fit two pans so we just stacked them (don't tell my mom lol). Hah funny story: I kept trying to say point in Portuguese but apparently I just kept saying a really bad word in Fogo Creole, so one of the ladies in the class kindly informed me of the fact. Hahah kinda embarrassing. ALSO, there was a CENTIPEDE in our kitchen. Yeah, you heard that right. Read it again because I know you're as astonished as I was. Monteiro whacked it with a broom 10000+ times and we threw it away hahaha. HORRIBLE! We've been teaching some lessons to some peeps. And walking a lot. And eating A LOT! I had some hot sauce from a member and she said it wasn't hot... and it was basically liquid fire. At church on Sunday, in one of our wards, bishop was the only priesthood holder so he presided, conducted, and passed the sacrament all by himself! What a champ. I feel like there's not really much else to update for you guys. My hair is falling out. My tan lines are super bad. The mosquitos love me. I bought a Nike satchel for $5. All is well in the land. I hope you guys have an awesome dia and an even awesomer semana!!! Amo VOCÊS!!! WEEK: 23
AREA: São Filipe, Fogo COMPANION: Sister Monteiro Hey ya'll WHAT'S GROOVY?!! I hope everyone had an awesome week! This week was pretty chill for us. We had a couple lessons and family nights. Honestly not much going on... other than our baptism!! It was pretty chill. The baptism suit bishop had to wear was very Elvis presley vibes lol. Like seriously everyone was laughing! ALSO! we went to fill up the font and we couldn't find the plug. We had to send the maintenance dude on a search. Eventually he found one and all was well. But when we came back to the church for the baptism, THE PLUG WAS LITERALLY ON THE SHELF. Idk how we missed it. We're planning an English class and EVERYONE is super excited. I hope it all works out. One night we were doing a little Facebook outside and all of a sudden we started hearing screaming. Me and Sister Dana asked what is was and they said it was the sounds of the pigs dying. Literally a slaughterhouse and the next thing you know IT WAS ON FIRE. Very wild. I finally mustered up enough courage to kill the spiders in my bathroom, and one in the kitchen. Hopefully they know I MEAN BUSINESS. Church was CHILL. It's probs my favorite thing that we get to do here haha. It's just so crazy how strong the spirit is in the chapel here! We ate lunch at a member's house and I can't say I'm used to the food STARING back at me yet, but maybe one day. So other than baptism, dying pig screams :*( and a battle of the spiders, my week was pretty normal. Hope you all have an awesome day today. And an even.... AWESOMER WEEK !!!! Also feel free to send me some awesome quotes that you guys like!!! Até logo ! WEEK: 22
AREA: São Filipe, Fogo COMPANION: Sister Monteiro Olá again!!! Sorry for the late email... we had ZONE CONFERENCE yesterday so today is my p day !! This week was super fantabulastic!!! MIRACLE: Tuesday I had the thought that we should get frescinhas (kinda like ice cream popsicles) so we stopped by the house that sells them. The lady invited us in and we were really confused because we just wanted a little treat, WELL turns out she wants to learn more about the church!!! We had an AWESOME lesson with her and it ended up being the best treat ever. We had a family night with the sisters in Congresso and the lady made this super good cake and it was super fun. ALSO! Sunday we ate at a members house and for dessert they had pudim. Imagine a mix between jello and cheesecake, but it tastes like a loaf of sausage and it's drenched in oil. It tastes about as good as it sounds :) We're having lots of lessons with lots of peeps every day. Teaching in Portuguese is hard but it's getting better. We did the bleach and colored water object lesson for Zé Carlos and he LOVED it! He was literally AMAZED haha. It was the best. We didn't have water most of Wednesday and I almost had to take a bucket shower, BUT my prayers were answered haha. President got here Saturday night and invited us to eat with them and the aps and I was so excited! And then I was reminded that I was fasting, and all of a sudden I wasn't very excited anymore. Church was AWESOME! We had a bunch of less actives there and the classes were pretty good. I love fast and testimony meeting here because everyone bears the simplest testimonies but they're so sweet. Zone conference was awesome!!! Sister Wunderli made homemade chocolate chip cookies so that was the highlight of my transfer haha. But we were at the chapel for 11 hours because of all the interviews and that jazz. Anywayyyy love you all! Hope you have a fantabulastic semana! The Lord is on YOUR side Até mais :) |
