WEEK: 8
AREA: East Lorain, Ohio COMPANIONS: Sisters Bowles and Haas Not gonna lie this week has been pretty uneventful. Last week we went to Vermilion for pday. It's just this cute little town on Lake Erie. It was super fun! MIRACLE: Haas was hopping jumping from this block of concrete back down to the dock and her phone (with the sim!) fell through the crack into the lake!! But wait! When we looked down, It landed on the tiniest rock the size of her phone!!! It was insane. Service with the Elders is probably the highlight of my week. Elder Durham is super funny and Haas says we vibe the same so I take that as a compliment. The wind has been SUPER bad this week. It's like so loud we can't even sleep. Also we've all been having super weird dreams so that's kinda spooks. One day at service it was "blessings day" so everyone was just shouting blessings day the whole time! Basically it just meant if you see anything you want, take it haha. We now have 12 bottles of ranch... We had a lesson with Nicole and she was talking about how her church wanted her to speak in tongues this week. Sister Haas thought that she said speak and talk this week, as in give a talk, and so she was hyping her up soo hard!! Hahaha it was hilarious! Me and Sister Bowles didn't know what to do! Saturday night I made THE BEST chicken Alfredo. Like I was actually proud. We wanted to carbo load because it was fast Sunday. Fasting was hard, but not as hard as I thought it would be. PLUS the lady that fed us dinner gave us SO MUCH FOOD. Like gallons of it. Including the best mashed potatoes I've ever had in my life. I'm not even exaggerating. And its good she gave us that much food cause we haven't got paid so we don't have any money to shop today lol. This week we put everyone on the chopping block. Everyone's been super flakey and ghosting us, so we gave everyone two strikes. 5 people are safe, 2 people chopped, and 2 maybes. Also we haven't had ANY SUCCESS finding people this week so there's that too. But it's okay, we just gotta keep working hard! I love you all, hope you have a good day and an even better week!!

WEEK: 8*
AREA: East Lorain, Ohio COMPANIONS: Sisters Bowles and Haas WOW! This week was AWESOME. Definitely some of the funniest moments of my life lol. For P Day on Monday we went bowling. I did alright. My dad would be proud. Tuesday we drove to Perrysburg to pick up our NEW companheira... SISTER HAAS!!! She is awesome! She goes to SUU too so we're gonna hang when we're back. And she speaks portuguese!! Kinda fun. THURSDAY WAS HILARIOUS!! In the morning Sister Haas was blowing chunks and no one heard her! Apparently the chicken we cooked the night before... we didn't lol. Oopsie! I felt bad cause we didn't get sick, I even had fourth meal! But we had a good laugh. Now I'm a lil weary of chicken haha. On Friday during in one of our lessons Sister Bowles was teaching about the premortal life. She tried to say "We believe in forordination" but she said "We believe in FORNICATION!" HAHAHAHA it was sooo funny! We went and did service on Saturday with the Elders. It was super fun. They're committed so they'll be back again next week. I had to say the prayer in the devotional that night with the entire mission including Mr. President and his wife. 4 seconds in I STARTED CHOKING ON MY OWN SPIT! Yep. So we all start laughing and I just had to hurry up and finish the prayer. After that everyone kept texting us and wondering what happened lol. It was so funny! I suppose I'll add something spiritual: I read this talk by someone cool and he said something that made me realize something else! When we pray to strengthen our spiritual gifts, or work on Christlike attributes, God gives us WORKOUTS! He gives us little exercises so we can develop it! So next time you're trying to be patient and you have to be patient, that's why lol. ***If you've made it this far, send me your address and I'll send you a cute letter. If not, alrighty then hope you all have a great week!! WEEK: 7
AREA: East Lorain, Ohio COMPANION: Sister Bowles Heyyyyy friends !! It has been a WILD week. My very first week in the field. It has consisted of: driving, pasta eating, zooming (not the fun kind lol), and more pasta eating. FR that's all the members feed us lol. My first day was all flying and driving. I LOVE my trainer Sister Bowles! She's thee best. My first area is east Lorain, Ohio. Yeahhhh I know it doesn't sound too exciting... but I'm having fun I promise!! On the plane here this plig dude was talking to me the entire flight and telling me basically his whole life story... WITH PICTURES. He said he thought I was going to be a great missionary so that's good haha. Covid rules are a little insane here but it's chill. We mostly just chill in our house and zoom with people, call people, and do "Facebook finding" aka talking to strangers on the internet. Didn't they say something about not doing that ever??? We live in a cute little duplex with THE CUTEST NEIGHBORS! He's a convert and apparently super successful with summer sales hahaha. THE BEST THING EVER: Everyone has their own individual mailbox!!! Ahhh it's soo cute! I swear Sister Bowles gets something in the mail everyday. It's so funny watching her sprint to check the mail lol. It's kinda weird because I don't really know any of the people we're teaching BUT I found someone! We were going through the paper area book and found Edna. I was super nervous to call her but she picked up and said she needed Jesus and it was a sign!!! Then we called later and her phone was cutting out and she was like man Satan really doesn't want us talking hahaha. We dropped her off a BOM last night so hopefully she reads it! We had a lot of people bail on lessons this week but it's chill. One night we chased the sunset until we could find a turn off to take pictures and skip rocks on the lake. It was so fun! I think its moments like those that keep you sane when all you do is chill in your house. Here's some pictures of the pretty sunset, Lake Erie (right by our house), our cute house, and me and Sister Bowles! Wow this week went by so fast! We had a bunch of English fasts this week, and I know there is NO WAY I could've learned this much this fast without the gift of tongues. IT IS SOO REAL!
This week I've been taking advantage of this good weather by doing my classes outside. It's been so nice. I'm a little sunburned, but that's okay. In Detroit there's literally NO sun. Like you have to take vitamin D supplements haha. But hopefully when I get to Cape Verde I'm so tan people think I'm a native lol. Friday was the last day of class, and I was so sad to say goodbye to my awesome teachers. Me and the district still chill on zoom so that's good. My mom and sisters are in Florida for a soccer tournament right now, so it's just me, my dad, and CPS chillin at the house. We got pedicures which was so fun haha. I'm not gonna lie, I am VERY nervous to fly out to Detroit on Wednesday, but I know everything will work out because it always does. I'm so grateful for my MTC experience. It is definitely something I will never forget. AMO VOCÊS <3 |
