WEEK: 43
AREA: Achada Santo António, Praia, Santiago COMPANION: Sister Arana This week was HYPE... part 2 So basically this week was Thanksgiving, and I wasn't in America, but somehow I ended up eating two Thanksgiving dinners... This week was our transferly SOCIAL MEDIA HYPE TOUR!! It was suppeeerrrr awesesommeee! We went to all the zones on the island and gave a training about how we're gonna do Christmas on social media this year :) Thursday we headed up to Assomada, and they invited us to have Thanksgiving with their zone! We had pizza, mashed potatoes, and gravy (which we all thought was soup lol), and gallons of sumo. After that, we headed back to our side of the island and ate Thanksgiving dinner with the Braithwaites and a bunch of other missionaries. (The Braithwaites are an American couple in our ward here to help with the temple, and THEY'RE AWESOME!!) We had turkey, and taters, and cider and pie and it was literally like a little American sanctuary on the 6th floor of some random little building in the middle of Africa in the middle of the ocean :) We did some social media, our sink broke... AGAIN, almost got attacked by Spider Man lol jk but kinda, anddd yeah good week! Hope you all have a very happy week full of leftovers and pear juice. I. LOVE. PEAR JUICE. And you guys too :))

WEEK: 42
AREA: Achada Santo António, Praia, Santiago COMPANION: Sister Arana Heyyy ya'lll ! This week was another week that I spent here in Praia :) and lots of things happened ! P-day we went and played soccer with both the zones in Praia. Tons of the og missionaries (the ones who served here before covid) are leaving so it was a nice last hurrah. We've been doing lots more preparation for our hype tour and to say I'm excited is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Man I love being overly excited. Sister Smithy went to Fogo, so we had to do a covid test for her... and it took like 3 HOURS! Yep. But she's safe there and Webby left the nest, so the operation had success. I got my new child Sister Arana! She's from Peru and she knows how to cook, so our weekly menus just got a lot more Peruvian haha. We taught some lessons, did some indexing, and met President and Sister Wunderlis's cute fam. Wow, they're precious. Sundayyyy we were making Alfredo, and the gas ran out from our stove... so we headed to terra branca with all the ingredients and ate there lol. Overall a nice week filled with chocomax and constructing door baracades :) Love you all and have an awesome Thanksgiving!! Lots of people would say eat tons for pie for me, please DON'T eat tons of pie for me. Pie is gross. Take a really long nap for me :) WEEK: 41 AREA: Achada Santo António, Praia, Santiago COMPANIONS: Sisters Webb and Smith ***TRANSFERS NOVA COMPANHEIRA: Sister Arana, 2nd born, 4th child Yo yo yooo I HAVE NEWSSSS !!! Saturday we were in the office counting down the hours for the call from the assistants about transfers, when President decided to just tell us right there lol anddd.... I'm training AGAIN !! Her name is Sister Arana and she'd from Peru. That's all I know about her right now, so I'll have some more info next week. We're all pretty sad to be getting split up, but me and Smithy have this elaborate plan that we're gonna be comps later in São Vicente sooo tudo bem. But anywayyy this week was super fun! We had exchanges Tuesday so Webby headed to Palmarejo and I stayed with Smith. We locked ourselves out of the house so the office elders had to come save us lol. We had a pot luck after district council and everyone made cute little treats and pizza homemade, and we brought two bags of potato chips... we have to learn how to cook. We didn't have water for a day because they just decided to turn it off :) but once again the office elders saved us!! One day I had the bright idea of taking the bus home instead of a taxi to save a little money. Well we hopped on the bus, it took us to the other side of the city, and then dropped us off. Like he wouldn't go back :) soo we ended up taking a taxi back... and the bus driver probably thinks we're dumb Americans. Annddd then Sunday we locked ourselves out again :)) Overall a very normal week with lots of normal things that happened. But I hope you all have an awesome week and that lots of awesome things happen !! WEEK: 40
AREA: Achada Santo António, Praia, Santiago COMPANIONS: Sisters Webb and Smith Heyyy soo good news! The toilet's fixed :) but the fridge broke... but the elders fixed that too! So we're all good, for now. This week started off soo good! We starting teaching our friends daughter AND we marked a date for a different one of our friends! We decided we wanted to walk to district council, but we forgot how far it was sooo... showed up 30 minutes late lol. Everyone has been finishing up their fantasy transfer boards because transfers are coming up soon. Honestly, I have no idea what's gonna happen. Sister Dias braided my hair and literally all the Cape Verdeans loved it hahah. There was this one Asian dude that yelled tourist when he drove by which I thought was kinda funny. We ate tons of ice cream, but also had correr quinta (running Thursday) so it all balanced out. We also found an exercise class on the beach soo we're gonna start going to that lol. Josi's baptism was soo cute. Wow she's literally so precious. During the confirmation some dogs started fighting. Only in Africa :) Okeyyyy wow yep think that's all. Not the most exciting semana, BUT we find out transfer news next week sooo if I don't stay with Webby and Smith I'll be giving my homecoming talk 9 months early! Love you alllll SO MUCH !! and don't forget to appreciate putting toilet paper in the toilet and not the trashcan :) WEEK: 39
AREA: Achada Santo António, Praia, Santiago COMPANIONS: Sisters Webb and Smith **emergency transfers Waahooo this week was pretty awesome ! We had zone conference and that's always the best. And it was in the office this time so that means... AC ! We started a little Facebook thingy so we got to take pics of all the missionaries in front of the temple. It was pretty fun. They're pretty dope. We had some rain this week which is kinda odd, and we ate some REALLY GOOD BREAD! I'm starting a movement: pão é a solução! Feel free to join :) Other than that we had some lessons, did some contacting at the temple, a little more Facebook work because no one else is doing anything, andddd our sink got fixed ! But the toilet broke... ALSO! We got a new comp Sister Smith! She was in Palmarejo but she's gonna chill with us for the next few weeks until real transfers. We also pranked the office elders pretty good. And the Palmarejo sisters. Anddd some people in the Palmarejo ward... but to be fair Elder Aston is always pranking us! We also met the cutest new couple in our ward. They're from Lehi and they're here to help us get ready for the temple yay !! Over all an awesome semana :)) Love you all! Bread is the solution! And don't forget to smile! WEEK: 38
AREA: Achada Santo António, Praia, Santiago COMPANION: Sister Webb Half way WHAT ?!! okay yeah Wednesday I hit 9 months so basically that's the craziest thing ever haha Okay now on for the stuff that's really good lol First off, me and Sister Webb CANNOT COOK. Like it's bad haha. This week we tried to make pizza and the crust was soo thick that it just wouldn't cook. Like WOULD NOT! so we just ate pizza with dough instead of crust lol We've been doing lots of work on the fb page and let's just say, I thought I would hate it, but I actually love it! We get to take pictures and ask about conversion stories and make ads! Fun fact: A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias is the number one advertiser on Facebook in the entire country :) We have these three guys we teach everyday and they're literally so precious. I feel like they're our little students haha they're theee best! We had splits this week so I was with Sister Dana for the day. Sister wunderli called us in the morning and asked us to hurry to the temple... so we did! They spilled all their secret plans about how we're gonna prep for the temple and a cute little trailer we're gonna make as a visitors center haha We went to the office and did a lil fb work and then we had stake conference! The wunderlis spoke Saturday and it was so cute. Sunday basically everyone from the praia zones was there so it was pretty fun to see them. Sorry this email was quite long, but if you got to the end... tu és superfixe! Hope you all have the bestest semana yet and eat lots of icecream :)) |
