My last p-day when we played soccer with my old zone. Hey guys howve you been? This week was a tad bit sketch if you asked, but it all started off with a nice pday with the zone. We went to Denny's first. I got a burger with egg bacon and hash browns in it with fries on the side. I was soooooo full after. I could barely walk! I definitely eat waaaayyy more than I did before the mish because I've been forced to chow down on sooo many meals that didn't want. Here, in Hon, if you don't eat everything that someone gives you it's a lack of respect and it's telling the person that you don't like their food. You have to eat AAllll of it. So basically I eat everything that's on my plate even in Denny's where they don't care if you eat all of it. I still felt like I had to eat everything.
We have an investigator named Moreno. He's really dope. He already has a testimony and wants to be baptized, but he's had an addiction to coffee for his whole life. He used to drink it for every meal. But we've been helping him out a lot lately visiting him everyday bringing him Coke to drink instead. He's officially gone a week straight without drinking coffee. If he keeps it up he could be tized this Saturday. We've been praying a lot for him and we hope he can leave his addiction behind. This week we were walking by the soccer field and we decided to hit up a pulperia nearby. We got some glass Coke bottles, sat down on the bench and started talking to the owner of the store. It started all chill just normal conversation but we ended up contacting him. He asked us a few questions and we answered them. It turned into a full on lesson! People kept joining in to listen to us preach and by the end we were teaching a group of 8 adults! We were there teaching and answering questions for about an hour and a half. We felt the spirit for sure! Even one of the dudes listening said "Guys... cant you feel it! It's the spirit of the Lord!" and everyone was like "yeah I feel it!" ... Yeah me too . .. I feel it too wooow it's soo nice etc. my comp and I were smiling and pretty happy in that moment because we could feel it too. We ended up getting 8 new investigators! One night at about 8 we were walking by the field again and some kid like 16 years old called us over. He was laying down on a bench. He had his head resting on the lap of his girlfriend and there were a few other girls and some kids chilling there too. We were just talking casually trying to be their friends. We were talking for them for about 15 minutes but things started getting a little weird. All of them started pulling out gang signs from the 18. It's the most dangerous gang here. So my comp and I were like aight lets get out of here. As we were leaving the kid gave my comp a bro hug and then pushed him and he did the same to me. We were like dude chill out! We started walking away and he called us out again he said "you guys already know!" and he did the I'm gonna kill you sign with his hand moving across his neck. He started pulling out something from his pants but his girlfriend stopped him..don't talk to my girl again he said and made the sign again..... later that night we were waiting outside the house of a member that was gonna give us dinner but he wasn't home. We sat down on the stairs outside. About 5 minutes later that same group came walking up the street. He went up to my comp and acted like he was gonna pull out a gun from his pants but it was just his phone. I told him "hey chill dude were just trying to preach the gospel. We don't want problems and he was like aight we friends but remember and made the sign again... guuuuullp THAT SAAAAME NIIIIGHT after dinner we were walking home and a drunk dude called us over... we actually like talking to them now because they are sooo funny and we can just mess with them. he told us "hey, I have to tell you guys something" "I was in jail for a long time in Mexico do you want to know why" we were like yeah sure haha he was like "one day some guy was talking bad about my mom so you wanna know what I did... I took out my pistol and killed him" we were like WWWHHHAATTT man your crazy! WE bailed ahhaa. Anyway thats enough with the crazy stories am I right! I've been reading the Book of Mormon a lot lately. I'm in Alma and I'm reading about the sons of Mosiah. I like the part about Ammon when he decides to be a servant for the king. He was perfectly loyal to him and he was able to defend the sheep from the enemies of the king. The king's servants that were with Ammon in that time so they saw what he was able to do and they went to the king to tell him. The king asked where Ammon was and they said he was working and feeding his horses. The king was amazed by his loyalty and by what he did and wondered if he was the great spirit. He called Ammon to talk with him. Ammon ended up preaching to them and shared with them the gospel. I can really relate to this story as a missionary. We are here to preach but we have to be examples of the Savior first. We have to do service, be polite, and show our attributes of Christ to the people. When they see this they get the same impressions that the king had and they are interested in receiving the gospel in their lives. We did service this week and were able to gain a trust with the people and teach them a lesson. And that's something that happens all the time in my mission. I know that as missionaries we are here to serve not to be served. If we can lose ourselves in the work and try to serve as much as we can letting the light of christ shine from us, the people are going to see something special. Thats when the desire to learn about the gospel comes.
