I can see Las Mercedes, my second area from my window. I can see the house of Christopher but it's not in our zone so I can't go visit him. I got transferred kids! I'm in Mision Comayaguela, Zona Comayaguela, Area Comayaguela! This is my 3rd area in this same Zone but I'm stoked! Pradera and Tiloarque are both in this Zone. My new comp is Elder Young, from Riverton. He has 8 months in the mission. He's a super chill dude and weirdly reminds me of... ME! I also got Elder Briggs in my zone and this other bro from St. George! I'm happy and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna finish my mission like this. A lot happened this week let me tell you... On Wednesday we traveled back to my old area to give a capacitation in the church by the temple. It was a capacitation for the missionaries that are going to train new ones. We also had to do a an example of a companionship study. It was funny because I found my old district in the chapel having their district meeting. I got to eat Sopa de Garrobo! Thats iguana soup for those who don't know. Guuuulp... It was good!! We actually bought the soup because we really were interested in what it tasted like. If I could describe the meat.... it was like chicken but firmer and rubbery. I liked it though and I was hopping around like and iguana afterwards. I'm scared to tell you this but... we were headed to the house of a referral named Browli we had received from a recent convert. As we headed to knock the door there was a ripped tattooed man with his shirt off filling his outdoor pool he had set up in the street. He said "Hey! Don't go in there cause you'll just come out with the devil inside of you! I'm tellin you a Devil! I was weirded out but I forgot about it and we walked up the door. It was open and the recent convert came over to us. She's old about 60 something and she said Come on in! We went in and another lady came over but I've just gotta say I had a creepy feeling in there and these ladies look like straight up witches dude! The nose, the laugh, the creepy grin, everything! Anyway they were whispering and telling us that Browli was on the second floor in his room. The lady whispered the devil is up there. She said he looks like he's dead cause his chin hangs down. We heard some weird yelling sounds coming from upstairs. We kind of chuckled. Then the lady whispered Are you scared with a creepy smile? My comp and I BUUURSTED out laughing and we couldn't stop because we didn't realize what we had gotten ourselves into and plus you guys know that's my weakness. They started laughing with us and about 2 minutes later I finally controlled myself. We were ready to go up. One of the ladies walked slowly up the stairs and took the lock of the door and ran back down and said okay go ahead with creepy grin. I was sketched and asked her to go first. She said no way. I'm not going up there. There's a devil! You guys go! We went up the stairs and saw the door of Browlis's room opened. We walked sloooowly and we saw him! He was sitting on his bed with his back facing us. He was twitching and moving weirdly. I was sketched!! My comp asked how are you? He yelled really loud "I'm good, I'm okay, I'm veeeery goood!" I started laughing. We introduced ourselves and asked if we could talk to him. He turned around and his eyes were crrreeeeepy as if he was on some kind of drugs. He walked out of his room and we went on his balcony and sat down in some chairs. We tried sharing a message but he was trippin out saying how he didn't like our church. Some loud Jesus music turned on in the background and Browli started laughing creepily, so once again my comp and I started laughing so hard! I thought we were gonna be possessed or something if we didn't get out of there so we bailed. Not going back again. Sorry for such a long story. It's just that nothing crazy like that has happened in a while. We have great investigators here in the area. I'm excited to keep working with Elder Young. We already had many powerful spiritual lessons this week and I hope to baptize lots with him. Love you guys have a great week! Iguana Soup! Mexican tacos from last Monday. They were so good!!

Last week of the change went by fast! I'm still not sure what my changes are and I won't know until tonight. We had a baptism this Saturday! His name is Aaron. He's 9. His mom, Bessy, is going to get baptized soon. We just have to wait until she gets married to her boyfriend that's a member.
We had a really good lesson yesterday with a family we've been teaching. They are really poor and live in a small wooden house. The boyfriend's mom died when he was 5 so he grew up on the streets, but luckily he met his girlfriend who goes to a church so it took him off the wrong path and onto the right one. We taught them The Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a super spiritual lesson and they even said they felt peace and joy and that they felt like they were needing to hear our message all day. They are really interested and want to keep learning about the restored gospel. Well, that's all for this week. Love, Elder Sullivan The food trucks here are so good! This week passed by tooooo fast my friends. It was a week of pure meetings, interviews, interchanges and conference. I enjoyed conference a lot and everyone here is goin creg because they're gonna build a temple in San Pedro. That will be the second temple in Honduras.
I already was able to set new goals after listening to the advice that the speakers gave us. It was awesome because no one was assigned topics, instead they all prayed to receive revelation in order to know what to speak about. They really emphasized the importance of creating a spiritual shield from evil by living carefully and not casually the gospel. Also, the importance of making our homes refuges from the world where the Holy Ghost is always present. I'm even more grateful now that I live in Utah because its very difficult to put those things in practice with so many temptations and wickedness here. I challenge you guys to study the conference talks and set goals based on the revelation you receive. Have a good week kids! Well kids it was preeeeetty hot again this week and its only getting worse until May when the rainy season starts up again. We were able to find a few positive investigators to teach. One of them is a girl that's married to a member. He's been a member for 36 years but she hasn't been baptized yet. Allll of the missionaries have tried teaching her and she always has the same doubts and questions so she always says no to being baptized. Well, this week we went to visit her with the bishop and we shared the restoration with her. We then showed her a video on the Book of Mormon. It was the talk by Callister when he talks about Joseph Smith and how it was litteraly impossible that someone translate the Book of Mormon without the help of God. It turns out that that was the doubt shed had about the Book of Mormon, but after the video she said that we did what no other missionaries were able to do--answer her questions and clear up her doubts. We felt really good after the lesson we were in there from 730 to 10! We didn't even eat dinner but it was such a spiritual experience.
The Coronel Zuniga, he's a member in our ward invited us to eat breakfast in the tecnical school for the armed forces suuuuper coool. They served us so nicely. When we entered they led us to his office and said what would you like coffee or gatorade super cool. We ate on some doooope big plates in his really elegant office. When the coronel arrived everyone saluted him with their hand and bowed like they do in the army. Then he gave us a tour of the school. As we walked through the halls it was totally like a scene from star Wars!!! I'm SERIOUS! The coronel was like Darth Vader and the soldiers were like the clones because as we walked behind him if a soldier passed he'd have to salute him and bow and we passed like 5 people and they all did the same thing. Hahaha it made me laugh soo hard haha. I really thought he was gonna start force choking those dudes! Hope you have a good week! Elder Sullivan Heeeeey creeds! Another week in the grill! Literally man it's been hoooot these days and my tan lines are definotely creepin me out more and more each day guuulp. Anyway it was a good week. We have been applying what Elder Uceda taught us and it's working pretty good. 4 of our investigators went to church this Sunday! The bad news is that we aren't gonna baptize this month anymore because the investigator didn't go to church. We are going to marry a couple though! The boyfriend is a member but the girl isn't and she has a kid that has 9 years so there are 2 baptisms for April. The time is passing too fast! Tomorrow i'll have 20 months in the mish! I'm still working and doing my best so I can feel good after it's done. Cheque pue ahi nos vidrios !
Great week! We were able to listen to Elder Uceda 2 days this week! He talked to our mission one day and to all of the Z.Ls the other day. He taught us a lot of cool things to try in order to work more efficiently. We almost had a baptism this week but he still wasn't ready. He has a new baptismal date for the 30th. We have so many good investigators and I hope I'll be here in the area to see them all get baptized!
I tanned like a sith this week. We were exploring new parts of our area especially the poor ones. We've been waking up at 4:45 to go to a dope park by our house. They have exercise machines there, even a bench press and pull up bars. We run on the track too. I gotta get prepared for when I get back if you feel what I'm saying haha. Cheque criaturas, Elder Sullivan My new comp Elder Tun is chiiill! We worked super hard this week. It went by really slow but that's how every change starts off.
We went to an investigators house and this dude came out with a beer bottle in his hand super drunk. He's from Costa Rica and he's super rich because he owns tons of hotels and coffee fields in Honduras. He tried giving us his Costa Rican ID, but we were like dude you need this. He put his arms on our shoulders and said aight I'm gonna bless you right now. He talked English perfectly but he started praying half Spanish half English and started swearing haha! He was like yeah I lived in Huntington Beach and said yeah I'm a surfer duude but I have a disease. I'm an alcoholic. It was funny but sad. We've been working with lots of couples that have to get married but we have dates planned for them and everything. We should have at least 1 baptism this month and 2 or 3 in April. but it's crazy that the change ends on the 15th of April so were gonna go ham and try to baptize before they send me out of here. I stayed in las casitas and got a new companion. His name is Elder Tun from Mexico. He has 16 months in the mission. Good guy! I met him like 2 hours ago haha.
Theres this bolo in our area. We contacted him one day and he told us his name (benito sanchez) and where he lived. We actually went to visit him one day. It was sad cause he lives alone and his family doesn't like him at all because of his addiction. But everytime we see him in the street we're like "hey benito sanchez hows it going!" Like 2 weeks passed without seeing him but yesterday we were teaching a lesson in on the front porch of a house and in the middle of the lesson he pops his head over the fence and says "Whats my name!" and my comp and I responded... "!benito sanchez!" and he was super happy saying !thats right! thats right! haha. the people we were teaching started laughing like crazy. I'm excited and ready the lead the zone this change and to baptize a lot. The area is in good shape and we have tons of people to teach. Some of our investigators have to get married first but were gonna do what we can to help em out. This week was great in terms of having good lessons with our investigators and we hope to continue doing that this week. I'm excited too to have another latino comp cause I need to perfect my spanish. We're gonna be working hard this week the days are already filled with appointments! We took some converts to do baptisms for the dead. We had an investigator named Andy like 2 months ago, but we dropped him because he stopped going to church. 2 Sundays ago he just showed up to church again! Our Elder's Quorum president is dope, but he's super crazy. His name is Pabel. Anyway if he sees investigators at church he does anything to baptism them. So he ended up giving Andy a job at his car shop by his house. A ton of members work there too. We ate lunch with Pabel's wife this week and we were talking and she tells us, hey I heard your gonna have a baptism this week! we were like uuuhhhh we don't think so. Then Pabel walks into the room with Andy and Pabel was like alright so were gonna plan your baptism right now who would you like to give talks, which hymns, etc. We were like daaaaang this guys a beast. So we ended up baptizing him on Saturday.
We also were able to take our converts to do baptisms for the dead. It was a great experience for them and for us. We didn't participate but we went to watch and support them. They all really liked it. There's changes on Monday and I'll be staying here. My comp is out of here. We'll see who comes. Well well well. Let me just tell you guys a few things that happened this week...We met a dude named Jesus. His story is sad. He's pretty old but 8 months ago he was fine, working doin his thing ya feel? But one day he stepped on a nail and had to go to the hospital. They ended up injecting this liquid that messed up his kidneys. His body is all swollen now he can't see or walk and they cut off his toes and some of his fingers. They gave him medicine to help him out but he ran out and doesn't have enough money to buy more. Sad I know but he's really receptive and actually went to church this week. A member went with my comp to pick him up and take him to the church. This week Elder Uceda came to our stake to talk. He's from Peru and is the president of the area of Central America. He did a question and answer type thing with all of the recent converts and it was really good. He knows like 4 languages! He talked in stake conference too about the sacrement. He talked about how one time someone asked elder Christopherson "what do you do when your in a boring sacrament meeting?" He then answered "Honestly I have no idea, I've never been to a boring sacrament meeting." Haha Elder Uceda told us that if we attend a boring sacrament meeting it means that we didn't come prepared. Je said a lot more but I'm not gonna write it all. He's a really good speaker and knows how to grab the attention of his audience and to inspire them. This week we were busy inviting the investigators to that meeting and the conference but now we can focus more on finding more people. We have some good investigators and we hope that they can keep progressing in the gospel. Peace out untill next week! |
